Better than I thought - I have to say, after reading a few reviews of this album, I was a bit wary to buy it myself. I love Songs About Jane, and I think Maroon 5 are incredible talents. I found the accoustic cd on sale for about $10 so I figured, what the hey. I was immediately impressed. I am a ",live", performance person, I think that when songs are played live, there are flaws which make the song ",real",, it s what the music should sound like. Adam s vocals were a little off, and slightly nasal, but the overall sound was perfect. My favourites are ",Harder to Breath",, ",The Sun", and ",If I Fell",. However, ",Highway to Hell", was a complete disaster, but I m sure it was only there for novelty sake. If you prefer live sound, then I d totally recommend this album (but only if it s on sale). If you think Songs About Jane is perfect and don t want to hear the songs done any differently, then maybe it s just not for you.
Saw version on TV - I saw this on TV yesterday or a live acoustic performance yesterday. They were really good. Adam s voice was a bit off on If I fell", but that s okay, he made it up on other tracks. I went to they re concert last week and it was amazing. The best show I ve ever seen. And they don t suck, not even a little.
Solid acoustic tracks....and one not so solid electric track - I picked up this CD today and listened to it in the car as I drove around town. I was thouroughly impressed with it. My only gripe is that the guitar seemed to be mixed WAY down compared to the vocals. Being a guitar player and trying to hear that part so I can play it myself is a bit difficult but I ll do. As for Highway to Hell...well, its definetly headed in that direction (more of a novelty really). PS If you havent picked up Songs About Jane yet, take up amazons offer and get them both for $20. You wont regret it.
booooooo - This CD is definitely not worth it. It s a complete disappointment. I thought Adam Levine s voice would be impressive recorded live but it isn t. And there s nothing special about it, the songs sound just like they do on the radio except slightly lower quality because it s a live recording. Sadly the most amusing thing on the CD is the cover of ",highway to hell", that made me almost pee my pants laughing.
Thank god for their studio album - Some bands should not do acoustic. The lead singers voice do not sound strong at all. It cracked and he was off key. On one song I thought he had a lugee in his throat. The bongo s and guitar were pretty tight, but overall, I m glad I didn t waste my money on this cd. Listening to this was a complete waste of my time.
